Why Learn Martial Arts?

Training in martial arts cultivates discipline, resilience, and self-mastery, strengthening both body and mind. Beyond self-defense, The Martial Arts give students a place to explore their own physicality and surpass their self-imposed limitations to become supremely human.

Is Hapkido The Same As Aikido?

Hapkido and Aikido share common roots in Daito-ryu Aiki-jujutsu, but they are distinct martial arts with different philosophies and applications. Aikido, developed by Morihei Ueshiba, emphasizes peaceful blending with an opponent's energy and redirecting attacks using circular movements, often with a spiritual focus on harmony and peace. Hapkido, founded by Choi Yong-Sool, integrates similar joint locks and throws but incorporates more striking techniques, aggressive counterattacks, and extensive kicking methods influenced by Korean martial arts. While both arts use redirection and leverage, Hapkido has a broader focus on practical self-defense, making it more combat-oriented compared to Aikido’s emphasis on non-violence and spiritual development.
